What is Bergamot Oil?
Bergamot Essential Oil is extracted from the peel of the fruits of the Bergamot tree. These are small, pear-shaped citrus fruits. The oil has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.
Where is it from:
The Citrus Bergamia, or Bergamot tree, probably originates from the Canary Islands. Nowadays the tree also grows extensively in Italy, especially in the vicinity of the town of Bergamo, where the fruit owes its current name.

Bergamot Essential Oil has a fresh-sweet citrus aroma.
Benefits of Bergamot Essential Oil:
Calming
The scent of Bergamot Essential Oil has a calming effect on body and mind.
It helps with stress, insomnia and overstimulation and can be used for winter depression and during meditation.
Soothing
Due to its calming effect, Bergamot Essential Oil also has a soothing effect on cramps and irritated skin.
Cleansing
Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it a very good ingredient for skin cosmetics such as creams and deodorants. The oil is also ideal for supporting the care of oily, acne-prone skin.
How to use Bergamot essential oil:
As aromatherapy
Add 8 drops of Bergamot Essential Oil and 5 drops of Neroli Essential Oil to the water reservoir of a diffuser.
In Bath
Add 8 drops of Bergamot Essential Oil to a tablespoon of Dead Sea salt and sprinkle in a warm bath. Wonderfully relaxing and refreshing.
Extra addition to shampoo or scrub
Add (if desired) a few drops of Bergamot Essential Oil to your shampoo or scrub for a soothing effect on your hair and skin.
Massage and/or skin oil
Mix 50 ml of base oil such as argan oil with 5 to 10 drops of Bergamot Essential Oil and use this to massage your skin. This provides a relaxing effect on the muscles and cleanses the skin.
As an ingredient for DIY cosmetics
Add (if desired) a few drops of Bergamot Essential Oil to the ingredients during the oiling phase.
