What is Black Pepper Essential Oil?

Black Pepper, also called Piper nigrum, is a tropical climbing plant that grows in shady places where it is very humid and very warm. The plant has oval leaves, small white flowers and berries that grow in long bunches. The berries of the Piper nigrum turn from green to eventually black. They are harvested at different stages and therefore produce 4 different types of pepper. In addition to green and black pepper, the plant also produces white and red pepper. Black Pepper Essential Oil is extracted by steam distillation of the dried and crushed peppercorns of the Piper nigrum.

Where is it from?

The Piper nigrum originally comes from India. Nowadays the plant grows in almost most tropical areas. Besides India, Indonesia, Malaysia and China are the main producers of pepper.
