What is Cajeput Oil?

Cajeput oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of the cajeput tree, also called the white tea tree, through steam distillation. 1 liter of cajeput oil requires more than 80 kilograms of leaves and twigs. Cajeput is somewhat reminiscent of the eucalyptus or tea tree. It has a similar fresh aroma, but is a lot milder in smell. Cajeput oil is known for its healing properties. This makes the oil ideal for treating muscle pain, headaches and acne, among others.

Where is it from?

The cajeput tree is originally from Indonesia. Nowadays the cajeput tree can also be found in large parts of southeast Asia and Australia.

Helps you breathe more freely

Steam inhalation supports breathing and widens the airways.

Treatment of acne and pimples

How do you use Cajeput Oil?

As a muscle and/or cold balm

Heat 5 tablespoons of beeswax in a bain marie in a heatproof bowl. Add 5 drops of cajeput oil and mix well. Allow to cool completely before using. Wonderful to rub yourself with after an intensive workout and to rub your chest, back and neck when you have a cold.

During steam inhalation

Fill a basin with 1 liter of hot water. Add 2 drops of cajeput oil to this. Hang your head above the basin and cover your head with a large towel so that the steam cannot escape. Take deep breaths and feel your airways expand.

As a foot bath

Add 2 liters of warm water to a basin and add 5 drops of cajeput oil. Soak your feet in this for 5 to 10 minutes. Then rinse your feet with cold water. Improves resistance to athlete’s foot and fungal nails. NB! Do not use undiluted on the skin. Do not use in the sun. May cause phototoxicity and affect the skin. Maximum dosage for the skin: 0.4% on 100 ml carrier oil or cream.
