What is Black Henna Powder?
Black henna is made from the indigofera tinctoria. This is the henna plant known for the beautiful indigo color that can be extracted from the leaves.
The leaves are pulverized, creating a powder that can be used as a hair care product.
Henna powder smells neutral. Some providers add chemicals to Henna powder that can cause serious allergic reactions. However, we have consciously chosen not to add anything to our Henna powder.
What is black henna?
Black henna is a completely natural care product that gives dark hair a beautiful shine. It is not a hair dye, so you do not use it to dye light hair dark. The henna actually enhances your natural hair color, making your locks look healthy and shiny.
However, black henna is not suitable for blonde hair, because it gives it a blue tint.
Our black henna is packaged in a handy 200 gram stand-up bag. Order black henna powder now to make your dark locks shine.
Henna powder for hair
Do you want to richly care for your hair without using harmful chemicals? This is possible with black henna. This natural care product is full of healthy nutrients for your hair. This gives your locks a nice shine.
The color of the henna also enhances your natural hair color. The high and lowlights that naturally occur in your hair are accentuated, giving you a much more dynamic cut.
Unlike chemical hair dye, henna provides a protective layer that nourishes the hair on the inside and repels harmful influences from the outside. Henna does not damage the hair and therefore provides resilient, vital, shiny and full hair.
How much coloring paste should I make?
These are averages and vary slightly depending on the length and thickness of the hair, but 70 to 100 grams of henna is sufficient for short hair. Between 150 and 250 grams is sufficient for hair up to the shoulder. 300 to 400 grams is sufficient for hair past the shoulders and you need about 500 grams of henna powder for hair down to the waist.
Very long hair may require more paste.
What color can I expect?
With plant-based hair dye, the original hair color has a great influence on the result. We therefore recommend dyeing a test strand of hair.
It is never completely certain what the color of your hair will be. This depends on the color of your own hair, where the henna comes from, the quality of the henna, how long you leave the henna in your hair and whether you prepare it correctly.
Risks and side effects
It is rare, but black henna can cause an allergic reaction. That is why we recommend that you always first treat a small section of hair with the henna powder to see if an allergic reaction occurs.
Black henna powder is not suitable for already colored hair and can discolor the skin. Therefore, apply the product neatly and carefully.
Instructions for use henna powder:
What do you need:
- Henna powder
- Lemon juice or vinegar
- Glass or stone container (not metal)
- Wooden or plastic stirring stick or spoon
- Gloves
- Old clothes/towels
- Cling film
- Vaseline or other greasy cream such as shea butter
- Hair clips if necessary
Roadmap:
- Spoon the desired amount of Henna powder into the glass or stone container.
- Add a dash of vinegar or lemon juice. The acid releases the color from the henna powder.
- Now slowly add lukewarm to hot water to the mixture and stir it with a plastic or wooden stick/spoon until a smooth mass.
- Leave this paste covered for a while, preferably without covering with aluminum foil. It can take up to 12 hours for the color from the henna to develop. – If the Henna paste is dark brown, it is ready for use. Mix well again.
- Use Vaseline or other greasy cream to apply to the areas of skin where henna should not accidentally get into the skin. Be careful not to rub your hairline with Vaseline.
- Place the old towels on the floor and/or other places where you want the henna not to stain.
- Put on the gloves and then place a towel around your shoulders and neck.
- If desired, you can use the hair clips to divide the hair into sections.
- Apply the color paste to clean hair, without gel, conditioner or hairspray.
- Comb your hair well and apply the henna mixture into your hair with your hands, strand by strand. Start at your roots and then apply it over your section of hair. Continue this way until your entire hair is covered with the henna. You need to cover your hair in such a way that you can barely see any hair, so apply the henna mixture thickly.
- If your hair is long, secure it with a few hair clips after applying the conditioner and then cover your hair with cling film.
- Remove residues of the coloring paste from the skin.
- Let it work for about 2-4 hours.
- Then rinse thoroughly with plenty of lukewarm water and, if necessary, wash the hair once with a very mild shampoo.
- It is best to use a (dark) colored towel to dry the hair.
* If the hair is wet, do not lie directly on a pillow, the hair may still shed a little.
* Henna powder is for external use only, avoid contact with eyes and mouth and do not use on damaged skin
Storage advice: Store Henna powder in a dry and dark place.
